CAPEB, COEDIS and Sofinco join forces to accelerate the replacement of fossil fuel heating systems with heat pumps
Just a few weeks after the meeting of the French Electrification Team at the Élysée Palace, CAPEB, COEDIS and Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility, through its Sofinco brand, have signed a charter to support the large-scale deployment of heat pumps in French homes. Specifically, the three signatories aim to provide tradespeople with practical solutions through two key levers: training and financing. Their objective is to make it easier for homeowners to take action, secure financing pathways, and enable craft businesses to convert more quotations into completed projects.
A field-based partnership to accelerate the replacement of fossil fuel heating systems with heat pumps
This initiative builds on an already operational value chain across local territories: CAPEB’s local network, COEDIS’s extensive coverage—with more than 4,000 points of sale and 400 member companies supplying over 200,000 professionals—and Sofinco’s expertise in financing, including its role as a financial agent for the French National Housing Agency (Anah).
By bringing together tradespeople, distributors and financing solutions, the three partners aim to remove a major barrier to heat pump adoption: the difficulty of combining technical advice, household out-of-pocket costs and the ability of businesses to offer a comprehensive solution from the quotation stage onward.
Training tradespeople to integrate financing into their sales proposals
The program will support tradespeople in registering with ORIAS and developing their expertise in distributing Sofinco’s purpose-linked loans, in full compliance with the regulatory framework applicable to intermediaries in banking operations and payment services (IOBSP).
In practical terms, the three partners will roll out workshops and training sessions throughout France, jointly led by CAPEB’s regional and departmental bodies, COEDIS sales outlets, and Sofinco training teams. These sessions will inform, train and equip tradespeople so that they can offer clear, compliant and appropriate financing solutions tailored to their customers’ projects.
Shared monitoring to measure on-the-ground impact The three partners will jointly oversee the deployment of the charter through a shared governance framework and operational indicators, including application volumes, conversion rates, and the satisfaction of both professionals and their customers. This monitoring will be accompanied by strong commitments to transparency and fraud prevention, benefiting both the industry and consumers.
