Financial support for the initiative of the environmental protection organisation myclimate in Uganda is dedicated to reforestation and local development, including through microcredit. This project allows our German subsidiary to offset 1,593 tons of CO2 resulting from the direct CO2 emissions of its vehicle fleet and the operation of its premises. Creditplus, which is developing in sustainable finance, confirms its commitment to climate protection.
This initiative enables farmers in western Uganda to reforest and better manage existing forests. The project also includes the establishment of a microcredit system to support income-generating activities. By strengthening local organisational structures, the project helps people improve forest management and establish a basis for long-term sustainable land use. This ensures that trees absorb carbon and store it in their biomass, while supporting biodiversity and improving public welfare.
Myclimate is a non-profit organisation that focuses on climate protection. It offers solutions to offset CO₂ emissions by supporting climate protection projects around the world.
The CO2 value and the amount of the donation are calculated by dividing the 2023 emissions into two categories: direct emissions of energy consumed in the agencies (scope 1) and those of motor vehicle fuel (scope 2). These emissions are then multiplied by the price per ton of CO2 set by myclimate to obtain the total amount of the donation.
This donation, although not reflected in the carbon footprint report, is a voluntary contribution from Creditplus. Voluntary support for certified climate protection projects does not replace the need to reduce CO2 emissions, a daily challenge for all of us.
