France Silver Éco (FSE) and Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility are committed to accelerating the adaptation of housing to aging through a national charter of good practices

Paris, January 13, 2026. On the occasion of the National Silver Economy Council, France Silver Éco (leader of the sector) and Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility are committed to accelerating the adaptation of housing to aging through a national charter of good practices. This approach brings together key players around a common goal: to propose a simple, ethical and accessible offer to allow seniors to age at home.

If today, those over 75 represent nearly 10% of the population (nearly 6 million people), they will reach nearly 20% in 2070, or nearly 14 million French(1). To cope with this demographic transition, housing is the cornerstone of a major plan: 90% of seniors want to age at home, which means responding to a strong societal aspiration, guaranteeing the maintenance of social ties and autonomy. These projections call for a massive and coordinated response, integrating financial solutions to allow immediate adaptation of housing and a spreading of the payment of works.

This is the meaning of the charter of good practices signed on December 18, 2025, in order to structure and accelerate the adaptation of housing to promote good aging.

The charter brings together key players in adapting housing to aging:

  • Building federations (FFB, CAPEB) for the realization of the works;
  • Manufacturers and distributors (FDMC, Coedis, Ignes) ensure the conformity of equipment;
  • Accompaniments (occupational therapists, project management assistants) to ensure the relevance of the solutions;
  • Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility, through its Sofinco brand, offers a solution for financing or co-financing adaptation work, in addition to national or local public aid.

A dedicated financing offer

Sofinco is launching a loan to adapt housing to aging that professionals can offer their customers. This solution allows seniors to finance or co-finance their adaptation work with simple and accessible modalities. It aims to lift the economic brake identified by the Ifop study (November 2023), according to which 38% of seniors consider financial assistance as a priority expectation to stay at home.

Sofinco is also the financial agent of the National Housing Agency (Anah). This role allows it to support building professionals by directly paying them public aid – MaPrimeAdapt’ and MaprimeRénov’ – as soon as the eligible works are completed and thus limit the impact on their treasury.

These commitments are part of Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility’s 2028 strategic plan to support environmental and societal transitions. This is reflected in particular in the ambition to finance 1 billion euros of works in France by 2028.

An animation work

The Silver sector will now continue to work on raising awareness among professionals about demographic issues and the availability of funding. The objective will also be to give visibility to this system with prescribers or intermediaries (UNCCAS, associations of elected officials, associations, federations of home services…).
