Rural car sharing: one year after its launch, the Agilauto Partage service has won over 600 people in the Pays de Fayence

On Friday, September 27 in Fayence (Var – 83), the first pilot of Agilauto Partage, located in the Community of communes of the Pays de Fayence in partnership with the Regional Bank of Crédit Agricole Provence Côte d’Azur, celebrated its first year of existence in the presence of its customers and partners. Since its launch on September 12, 2023, this shared electric mobility service has been a success with more than 600 subscribers and 50 rentals on average per month since the beginning of 2024 for a territory with 29,000 inhabitants. This mobility alternative is part of the Crédit Agricole Group’s societal project to accelerate the essential transformations of society by offering innovative solutions adapted to everyone’s needs.

+145% REGISTERED SINCE JANUARY 2024

Designed as a more flexible and accessible mobility alternative in a territory that has little public transport and where the car is essential, Agilauto Partage has gradually conquered the inhabitants of the Community of Municipalities of the Pays de Fayence, several professionals and companies established in the territory, various associations and also tourists, the service being promoted by the local Tourist Office and hotels. At the end of August 2024, 613 people were registered on the Agilauto Partage app (compared to 250 in January), which allows you to book one of the 16 electric vehicles in the car-sharing service. All age categories are represented even though a majority of users are between 40 and 59 years old (33%) and more than a third of users have renewed the experience at least twice.

The variety of vehicles available – 9 DS3 e-Tense, 5 Peugeot e-Expert vans, and 2 Peugeot e-Traveler minivans, including 1 adapted to people with reduced mobility – can be used for all purposes: people who do not have a vehicle following a breakdown, sports associations, professionals who occasionally need a van, people who move, tourists passing by who need a vehicle to discover the region…
An average of fifty rentals are made each month and peaks were observed this summer with 69 rentals in July and 94 in August. The average rental period is 12 hours for an average distance of 73 kilometers.

These figures, above the objectives set at the start of the pilot, demonstrate a real interest in this type of solution in rural areas.

A STRONG TERRITORIAL ANCHOR

The territorial anchoring of each pilot is illustrated by local employment. Agilauto Wage sharing of people living in the municipalities where the pilot is located to manage the fleet of electric vehicles, support users and promote the service. Two people living in one of the 9 communes of the Pays de Fayence are thus employees of Agilauto Partage.

To strengthen its territorial anchoring and on the occasion of the first anniversary of the sharing service in the Pays de Fayence, Agilauto Partage becomes a partner of the platform “Entraide en Pays de Fayence” which allows to connect people prevented in their mobility and locally identified volunteers who can provide them with punctual assistance. Agilauto Partage will make its car-sharing vehicles available to volunteers free of charge so that they can easily carry out their mission.

THIS SUCCESS REINFORCES AGILAUTO’S AMBITION TO EQUIP 10 NEW COMMUNITIES WITH COMMUNES BY 2026

Committed to supporting the transitions necessary for society, Crédit Agricole considers mobility to be a major challenge in its regions. Indeed, more than 350 communities, or 12 to 15 million French people, are affected by mobility problems (few public transport offers and no means to equip themselves).

Thus, with this first successful pilot in the Var, Agilauto Partage aims to deploy its electric rural car-sharing service in 10 other communities by 2026. These new projects will be implemented in close cooperation with Crédit Agricole’s regional banks, Pacifica, Crédit Agricole Assurances’ property and casualty insurance subsidiary and EDF.

Agilauto Partage allows us to proudly carry the values conveyed by the Crédit Agricole Group’s societal project across all regions and to be useful to as many people as possible. The availability of 100% electric vehicles is also an excellent way to raise awareness among the French about this new engine and to gradually support them towards more sustainable mobility.

Crédit Agricole Provence Côte d’Azur is committed to facilitating the energy transition for as many people as possible. Car sharing, which enriches the range of car financing solutions we know (acquisition, long-term leasing) is an alternative that seduces with its use “on demand”. Offer a service that combines flexibility of use, economic flexibility and that contributes to the reduction of carbon footprint in all its sense for a useful and responsible bank.

In rural areas such as ours, the dominant means of transport is still very much the individual car. To respond to the climate emergency, we must help and encourage our inhabitants to change their mobility habits. This is what we strive to do by offering them, in particular, this 100% electric car-sharing solution, which we are particularly satisfied with. Success is there and demonstrates that car sharing has its place in rural areas.
