Electric vehicle market: Hiflow unveils five trends and key figures for 2026

Paris, June 9, 2026 – As electric vehicles continue to gain momentum in France, with registrations up 91% in May and a market share reaching 29% (AAA Data), data observed by Hiflow, a leader in individual vehicle delivery, provides additional insight into the market’s concrete transformations. Growth in logistics flows, expansion of the used electric vehicle market, increasing need for driver support, and shifts in brand rankings: several trends are emerging over the first five months of 2026, reflecting the market’s gradual move into a new phase of maturity.

Used vehicles, deliveries, and usage: what electric vehicle flows reveal in 2026

Since the beginning of 2026, Hiflow has recorded a sharp acceleration in activity related to electric vehicles.

  • The number of transports carried out has increased by 91% compared with the same period in 2025.
  • The average distance covered has risen by 26%.
  • Revenue generated from this activity has surged by 122%, reflecting the intensification of flows and the growing importance of electric vehicles in purchasing and ownership journeys.

Beyond this growth, the data highlights a gradual evolution in the market. While new vehicles still dominate, the share of used electric vehicles continues to rise: they now represent 35% of vehicles transported by Hiflow, compared with 25% a year earlier. This shift signals a broadening of the market to new buyers and the entry of electric vehicles into a more mature adoption phase.

Flows remain largely oriented toward deliveries:

  • Deliveries now account for 80% of electric vehicle-related activity, showing 100% year-on-year growth.
  • Returns, which make up the remaining 20%, are up 61%, confirming the overall increase in the size of the electric fleet.

Finally, Hiflow’s data highlights strong momentum for French automakers in this segment. The top brands for electric vehicles transported by Hiflow in 2026 are:

  • Renault, with +165% year-on-year growth
  • Volkswagen (+150%)
  • Peugeot (+66%)

Growing need for support among new EV users

This shift is also accompanied by new needs. Drivers who have opted for electric vehicles are requesting more support services when receiving their vehicles. Additional services—particularly onboarding and handover assistance—are 10% more frequent than for other powertrains, indicating that EVs still generate specific expectations when it comes to usage and familiarization.
