In 2026, the attachment to holidays is confirmed: 64% of French people plan to go away this summer, an increase of 9 points in one year. But this return to holidays comes with a significant constraint: going away remains a financial burden for 73% of respondents. In this context, households are adjusting their behavior to preserve this break.
Faced with rising costs, traveler behavior is becoming more pragmatic. 81% des Français compare prices more frequently before booking, 61% are willing to cut back on other expenses to afford their trips, and 52% save throughout the year to finance their vacations. The search for cost optimization is now ainsi central to travel planning.
Vacation choices are changing: ,43% des Français now prefer trips of a week or less, 52% are considering traveling off-season to reduce costs, and 29% are turning to destinations where the cost of living is lower. Furthermore, rising fuel prices are influencing travel: 4 Français sur 10 qui prévoient de partir en voiture people are considering shorter trips.
For a segment of the population, budget constraints remain a determining factor. 36% will not be going away this summer, and among them, 64% cite a lack of funds. In this context, financing options are playing an increasingly important role: 64% believe that payment plans could encourage them to take the plunge.
